When we lose someone we care about, it’s not uncommon for them to make an appearance in our dreams. Whether they pass us by in a dream or we have a conversation with them as we sleep, these dreams can sometimes be upsetting, particularly if we miss the person or their passing is very recent.
Although dreaming of someone you’ve lost can sometimes be distressing, you may be glad to hear that these dreams can be a sign your loved one is trying to communicate with you in some way.
So how can you tell the difference between an ordinary dream about the person you’ve lost and one where they’re trying to contact you?
You don’t have to see them to know they’re there
You might have dreams where you talk to the person you’ve lost. Perhaps you dream that you’re talking to their angel or you dream that they’re alive and everything is as it used to be.
Sometimes, you might not see them at all but you can feel their presence in some way. You may notice a smell or sound that reminds you of the person you lost. You may also see subtle clues that your loved one has been there. For example, let’s imagine the person you lost was notorious for not washing their dishes after dinner. You may walk into the kitchen in your dream to see that the sink is full. This could be a sign that they’re trying to communicate with you in a cheeky way. Thankfully, sometimes the clues we get in our dreams can be a little more romantic than dirty dishes. Perhaps you’ll find a gift they once gave you or you’ll find a photo from a happier time.
If your loved one is visiting, your dream is likely to be clear rather than fuzzy
If you wake up in the morning with a strange feeling you dreamt about the person you lost, chances are this was just an ordinary dream. Regular dreams don’t always make sense and they’re often inconsistent and fuzzy.
If, however, you have a dream that feels so very real and vivid, there’s a chance your loved one’s angel paid you a visit. Your dream might start out as hazy and unclear but, as soon as the person you’ve lost makes an appearance, you may gain an amazing sense of clarity. You might even become aware that you’re dreaming.
Is the person you lost trying to send you a message?
If the person you lost tries to send you a message or communicate with you in some way, there’s a good chance that this dream is ‘real’ and their spirit really is reaching out to you. But, sometimes their messages can be subtle. They may hold your hand to let you know they’re with you every step of the way or they may take you on an exciting trip which could be a sign you need to enjoy yourself more.
Although these dreams can be upsetting and they can push our emotions to the surface, try to find comfort in the fact that, although they’re no longer here on earth with you in a physical form, their spirit or presence is still with you. When you dream about the person you lost, try to take this opportunity to reflect on positive memories that you shared and remember to carry that past happiness with you everywhere you go.
I woke up today and found a tiny black feather on my pillow. I know someone is with me and watching over me.
I have dreams of dead friends family members and even pets. Is this my lost loved ones or just my own head? I also have dreams about loved ones before they die showing me how they will go. It’s always with in 2 weeks of their passing. It’s kind of hard to hug them and say better get your shit together because you’re about to kick the bucket….
Its august 2019 i lost my dad 6years ago i was barbecuing i went in.the house i come.back out and there is.a black feather right in.front of me at back door omg its my.dad i no it beautiful i am so happy thank you for.reading.i also got 3more white feather wen .i was.camping just love it thank you god.
My mother became very sick and I saved her life and kept her going another 2 years, she returned the favour by saving mine. Shortly after she died, I was vulnerable and became a victim to a very corrupt detective who saw me as a threat as I witnessed a death which was indirectly her fault, so she set me up and turned my new loved one against me by telling her lies about my character manipulating her as she was vulnerable too, I was remanded and send to jail for crimes I did not commit, the police turned all my family against me too! I became so sick I gave up, I stopped eating for 12 days and barely drank water, so much so I was on the verge of a cardiac arrest through malnutrition. The prison nurse became extremely concerned when my natural pulse was racing like a just ran a marathon!. The jail guards became soo concerned they apologised for any wrong treatment on me by them and begged me to eat and drink!, however, I went to sleep that night and for a long time I had been waiting to see my mother in my dreams, she came, with the most amazing smile on her face! And I knew what it meant! “There’s my baby boy I have missed soon much” she then said, “Liam, I Love you! But you must pick yourself up andoing fight!” . The next day I was back to myself! A month later my trial came and they where telling me it was impossible I would win, I stood my ground and not only did I win, but I received a unanimous not guilty! Every single jury member voted for my innocence! ! . The main lesson I learned here was that love is the most powerful force in the universe! Because the unconditional love between a mother and son broke the very boundaries and laws between this world and the next!!
I have a son that passed when he was 4 yrs old,he had microcephaly,which means his brain didnt grow,so he couldnt sit up,or walk and talk,he was also blind.He passed in his sleep so I couldnt even tell him goodbye.I had a dream the other night,I said I love you Kory and he literally said Kory loves you.I grabbed him up and just hugged him and I was so happy.Well thank you for reading this.
My mum came to me in a dream we talked laughed and cried together. She wore a hospital gown and we sat on a bench in the corrider which doesn’t exisit in real hospitals but I know shes ok and at peace. Would love another anytime even though I woke still crying it was a great experience
